Gıda 2009 was the center of interest for buying delegations

Organized by Istanbul Trade Fairs on December 02-05, 2009, 17th International Food Products and Processing Technologies Exhibition attracted great attention. Organized with the support of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade, KOSGEB- Small and Medium Size Industry Development Organization, TGDF- Federation of Food & Drink Industry Associations of Turkey and TUGIDER- All Food Importers Association, the fair hosted a total number of 41.410 professional visitors of whom 2.510 were foreign professional visitors.

GIDA 2009, which provided an opportunity for the setting up of commercial and strategic cooperations between the food manufacturers and buyers, brought the leaders of the sector together at CNR Expo again this year.

GIDA 2009 hosted buyer delegations from 20 countries. These visiting countries at GIDA were Austria, Germany, Belarus, Bulgaria, Algeria, Morocco, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, the UK, Canada, Malaysia, Sultanate of Oman, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Greece, the USA, Azerbaijan, the UAE, Belgium, South Africa, the Netherlands, Israel, Spain, Sweden, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Uzbekistan and Jordan. Alfa Supermarkets from Greece, Metro Cash&Carry markets from Morocco, Euro Atlantic market chain from Malaysia and purchasing agents of Fortune Food Marketing from Singapore also visited the exhibition.

Domestic Buying Groups
The exhibition was also rich in domestic buying groups. Gıda hosted buying groups from various cities in Turkey and specifically from Istanbul. There were buying groups from Ankara, Konya, Izmir, Edirne, Tokat, Kayseri, Gaziantep, Canakkale, Mersin, Balıkesir, Bursa, Kocaeli, Afyonkarahisar, Zile, Gonen, Hatay, Aydın, Kahramanmaras, Kutahya, Samsun, Iskenderun, Bilecik and Aksaray.

Exhibitor Countries
Among the foreign exhibitor countries at the exhibition were the USA, Portugal, hMalaysia, Kosovo, Syria, Iran, China, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Macedonia, the UAE, Korea, India, Hong Kong, the UK, Croatia and Thailand. The participating foreign associations at the fair were Sri Lanka Tea Board- Sri Lanka, Southern United States Association –the USA, Halal Industry Development Corp, Matrade –Malaysia, Indian Oilseeds and Produce Export Promotion Council–India.

Leading Brands at GIDA
Ulker (Birlesik Gıda), Reis, Seyidoglu, Kervan, Bifa, Balparmak, Cargill, Gulluoglu, Orkide and Kristal, Aroma, Saray Biskuvi, Bagdat Baharat, Malatya Pazari, Metin Helva, Helvacızade, Tibet, Selva, Lebsan, Aydın Kuruyemis, Anı Biskuvi, Şimşek Biskuvi, Çagla Gida, Aksu Vital, Ozgullu, Tunas, Çardak and Olca Gida were some of the important brands at 17th International Food Products and Processing Technologies Exhibition.

The product groups exhibited at GIDA 2009 included milk and dairy products, meat products, biscuits, confectionary and chocolate, canned food, alcoholic beverage, non-alcoholic beverages, tea and coffee, flour-based foods and pastas, halal food, dried fruit, pulse, spices, baby food, frozen sea food, food additives and supplementary foodstuffs, vegetable oils, fresh vegetable and fruits, jams, honey, molasses and halvah products and sauces.

GIDA was organized concurrently with IPACK- 24th International Packaging and Food Processing Systems Exhibition and at an area of 45.000 sqm.
